An Innovative Education Program of the
Lancaster Country Career & Technology Foundation

Program Description: The Innovations in Technology Applications Program (ITA Program) is a forwarded looking educational program designed to provide worked related educational learning opportunities for the students of the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center. The ITA Program provides the 1500 plus students of the LCCTC 50 advanced level career and technical programs the opportunity to learn and apply advanced academic and technical skill while using leading edge technology and equipment. The program helps students to meet national industry standards, certification requirements, and licensing requirements. Additionally it will help facilitate the acquisition of specific skills by that are used by high skilled workers in every industry. The technology and equipment will be an integral part of the programs of the LCCTC and its six technical centers. Those centers are:

Construction Technologies Center – Brownstown Campus
Visual Communication Center – Brownstown Campus

Culinary Arts Center – Mount Joy Campus
Manufacturing and Computer Technologies Center – Mount Joy Campus

Health Career Center – Willow Street Campus
Transportation Technologies Center – Willow Street Campus - It is the intent of the ITA Program to acquire equipment and technologies being used in business and industry today. The types of technologies and equipment include:

Human Patient Simulator – Health Careers Center - This virtual learning tool allows health career students to learn anatomy and physiology, practice diagnostic skills, and use medical terminology outside of the clinical setting.

Hybrid Automotive Technology and Wireless Diagnostic Tools – Transportation Technology Center

Point of Sales System (POS) – Culinary Arts Center

Mechatronics Equipment - Manufacturing Technologies Center

ePrint Technology – Visual Communication Center

Timberline Systems a project estimating, pricing and management tool – Construction Center

The ITA program will utilize highly qualified teachers knowledgeable in their respective occupational fields. In addition, the program will utilize experienced and knowledge professionals as student mentors. It will be the responsibility of the teachers and mentors to conduct the program in order to aid students to achieve mastery of occupational skills. The ITA program is not the type of program found as a part of a regular academic program of study at public schools in the Commonwealth. Rather, the ITA program enhances the program of study of secondary students planning to pursue technology based careers. The ITA program is an industry base initiative designed to set students up to follow a specific path of academic and technical courses that can lead to an Apprenticeship and/ or a college education.

Specifically the ITA program will
  • Integrates National Skills Standard Curriculum and the application of advanced academics with in the career and technology programs
  • supplements the instructional programs of the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center
  • Provides a clear focus for the delivery of instruction that use methodology adapted from an apprenticeship model that teaches academic and technical skill in context of high skill high demand occupations
  • Provides a standards based instruction program built on both PSSA criteria, industry standards and college admission standards
  • Utilizes experienced and knowledge professional personnel along with highly qualified teachers to deliver the instructional program
  • Utilizes internships, cooperative educational programs, apprenticeships and other work based learning opportunities
  • Provides advanced placement opportunities in the form of credits with area community colleges and/or advanced standing in the Trade Association Apprentice Programs
The Lancaster County Career and Technology Center is the public school that will be participating in this program. A letter of support from the Director of the LCCTC is provided as apart of this submission. The Lancaster County Career & Technology Center will utilize the tax credits for the purchase of technology and equipment that allows students to obtain higher academic and technical skills.
