The cost of college courses for students attending the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center (LCCTC) became more affordable. The Lancaster County Career & Technology Foundation presented the LCCTC with a donation of $10,000 to support the school’s College in the High School and Dual Enrollment Programs at its annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Mount Joy CTC Campus.
The donation will allow over 140 students to enroll in five different courses offered by Harrisburg Area Community College while still attending the LCCTC as high school seniors. Nearly fifty percent of the cost of the courses will be covered by the donation and a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The LCCT Foundation presented $5,600 to support the LCCTC student Leadership Programs. The contributions will directly benefit students participating in the National Technical Honor Society, Skills USA, The Health Occupation Student Association and Future Farmers of America.
The leadership programs help students gain valuable leadership experiences, participate in local, state and national program competitions. Students involved in the programs are actively involved in a number of community services projects.
LCCTC Students from all four specialty areas of the Culinary Program at the Mount Joy Campus of the LCCTC prepared the fantastic meal, beverages, and desserts served at the Hall Of Fame dinner. Chef David Brooks, the Meat Cutting instructor at the Mount Joy CTC, stated that, “We love opportunities like this dinner to give our students experience on big projects; as well as highlighting to the community the quality of our programs.”
During the Hall of Fame Dinner, 17 individuals were inducted into the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center’s Hall of Fame. The following individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions to LCCTC:
